The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) is a one-off grant payable to first home
buyers that meet the government set eligibility criteria.
The scheme covers the purchase of your first home in Australia. To qualify you must be purchasing your home not an investment property.
If you are married or living in a de facto relationship, you must make a joint application with your spouse or de facto. Neither one of the applicants can have owned a home, whether individually or with any other person.
You will be eligible to apply if you:
The amount of the grant will be the same regardless of your income, location or
type of property.
The FHOG will only be paid for the purchase of your principal place of residence
- not for a holiday house or investment property.
States are responsible for administering the grant. For more information see
