: Homepage >> Australian Home Loan Numbers are the Lowest in 9 Years
The last time that Australian owner occupiers have taken out so few home loans, was in March 2001. Finance commitments by owner occupiers were down by another 1.8% in April.
This makes it seven months in a row that we are seeing a monthly drop in Australian owner occupied mortgages. Clearly the prospect of future interest rate increases acted as a deterrent to potential borrowers.
